It’s a cool twist on an old classic. Last month LAB ART held the opening reception for the fun, colorful works of Cubeworks Studio.
With a focus on cultural icons of our generation as well as those of the Pop era, the artists of Cubeworks manipulate their medium, Rubik’s Cubes and Rubik’s- style cubes, into stunning works of art. In addition to their Cubes, the studio also features art created with sewing materials, LEGOs, Crayons, dice and even mixed media on brushed aluminum panels.
Creative Director Josh Chalom explains, “Our works are meant to inspire, unite and invoke a sense of nostalgia by using common, tangible objects and methods to create impressive and entertaining works of art that can be appreciated and enjoyed by all.”
The event, which was hosted by Minx Society, featured beverages by Popwater, light bites by Berri’s Café, and sounds by Drones.
Cubeworks is now open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 11 AM to 5 PM until August.
