Calderon is a Mexican, Dutch, and Indonesian painter. She is best known for her Black and Gold series, a group of paintings inspired by music. The paintings feature lyrics of songs painted over the image of a celebrity made up of smaller hand painted images of the celebrity. Calderon has been featured in various museums such as the National Museum of Contemporary Art in San Francisco, California and the Tupac Afeni Shakur Museum in Atlanta, Georgia. Her works have been purchased by celebrities such as Sean Combs and Shaquille O’Neil.
